Review: Tink and Wendy

Tink and Wendy Tink and Wendy by Kelly Ann Jacobson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Finished on June 30, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: "After all, Peter was always cruelest when he least intended it."

I didn’t expect this review to be as hard as it is to write but, in all honesty, I’m still not 100% sure how I feel about some parts of this book. The concept for this book was really interesting to me. A book split between the past, the present, and sections from a history book written about Neverland. A queer adaptation of Peter Pan. I was so interested in this book.  I was provided an eARC from the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Lesbians time travel back to the Jurassic age. I was hooked from the description, but I was also a bit hesitant because I didn’t really enjoy the other book I’ve read by this author. But I was willing to give it a chance in hopes that the other book was just an outlier. I don’t think it was.

Review: I Kissed a Girl

I Kissed a Girl I Kissed a Girl by Jennet Alexander
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Finished on June 15, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: "Maybe, yeah, sure. Patriarchy bad. But how many serial killers are woke enough to care?"

I have varied feelings about this book. The premise was really interesting to me, I have a soft spot for Hollywood romances, but I’m not sure how I feel about it. There were parts of the book that really worked for me, but other parts that just didn’t sit right.

Review: Plain Bad Heroines

Plain Bad Heroines Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M. Danforth
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Finished on May 16, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: Alex and the nesting dolls

Disclaimer: I had to read this book in two parts. My library was loaning it out for 2 weeks due to the high demand and I got the book at a time where I didn’t have a lot of reading time on my hands. I had about a month in between part one and part two and I hope to eventually sit down and read it without that gap.

I didn’t really enjoy this book as much as I had hoped to. Certain parts were really good and were great at keeping my attention and making me anxious for what was next, but other parts just felt too long.

Review: Royal Rebel

Royal Rebel Royal Rebel by Jenny Frame
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Finished on February 10, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: "Not all addictions are bad. They're only bad if they bring you pain. If you allow yourself to feel what's in your heart, you would only feel happiness...Happiness and pleasure."

Normally I adore Jenny Frame’s books and the character’s she writes. The summary of this book was initially what drew me in, and I wanted so much to love it like I’ve loved her other books. However, I just couldn’t.
