A thirteen-year-old girl seeks answers about her past in the fourth dimension--and beyond--in this think-outside-the-box adventure.

What do you do when it turns out your whole life has been a lie?

Jadie Martin was always told she was abandoned by her parents. Creatures from the 4th dimension rescued her and placed her with a loving adoptive family. Now, Jadie acts as an agent for the beings, also known as Seers. She uses the 4th dimension as a short-cut to travel anywhere on Earth, performing missions calculated to guide the world toward a brighter future.

But then Jadie discovers that her origin story is fake. In reality, her birth family has suffered multiple tragedies and disasters engineered from 4-space, including the devastating loss of their baby girl. Her!

Doubting the Seers, Jadie starts anonymously observing her long-lost family. Why are they so important? What are the true intentions of the Seers? And what will all-powerful four-dimensional beings do to a rebellious human girl when they realize she's interfering with their plans?

A Wrinkle in Time meets Flatland in this thrilling journey that challenges the meaning of family, loyalty, and our universe at large.

A Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection

Reviews:

"Salerni offers a page-turning adventure tale and adeptly breaks down the math and science elements behind multidimensional theory for middle-grade readers. The book also has heart, touching on the emotional lives of two adopted 13-year-olds and the true meaning of family."—Booklist

"A thrilling ride through a multidimensional universe and high-stakes action"—Kirkus Reviews

"A complex, engaging sci-fi adventure that offers a different perspective on our world, literally from a dimension beyond."—School Library Journal

A middle-grade sci-fi story regarding a teen travelling through the different dimensions. I’m intrigued, sign me up for it. I’m very thrilled that I got to take part in a tour for this book.

I really enjoyed Jadie as a character. There’s always a chance when reading books that the main character either acts way above their age or they act in a way that just doesn’t sit well with me. Jadie didn’t really do that. She was an interesting character who was constantly learning new things and shifting her view as she did. It was nice to see her grow in the story while also seeing that what seemed to make her Jadie didn’t change.

Each of the side characters added an interesting depth to the story as well. From Marius to Ms. Rose to the other characters you get introduced to along the way. No one seemed to hinder the story by either being a pain or being too overpowered. Ty was really my only issue, but even then, I get why he was behaving the way he was throughout the story.

The setting of this story was interesting. A lot of it was set in the regular world, nothing exceedingly special. It was the way the 4th and 5th dimensions were portrayed that made it really interesting.

Okay, now a quick detail-free mention of the ending. I really enjoyed how it ended. It was satisfying but left enough there that if the author wanted to make a sequel the option was possible.

I really only had one major issue with this book and that has to do with the point-of-view. When it was a Jadie chapter it was written in first-person, but when it was another character’s chapter it was written in the third person. I just would have preferred if it had all been written in 1st or 3rd person, not mixed up.

I enjoyed this book more than I had expected to at the beginning. I do kind of hope the author puts out a sequel to this book because I still have some questions.
