The characters talking while playing a video game

Review:
I am so thankful to the publisher for providing me with an eARC of this book. This book surpassed every expectation I had for it and I thought it was absolutely amazing.

This was such a wonderful book! I absolutely loved every second of it, with one minor mention. There was so much beauty and heart and soul in this book. The only part that I didn't love was simply because the emotions were very sad and left me emotional. I cried for a solid ten minutes after reading a certain part in this book.

One thing that I didn't expect from this book and was pleasantly surprised by was the character development. I've found that graphic novels, especially those that are one issue and not spread out throughout multiple volumes, don't always allow for a lot of character development. I think that also occurs because it's harder to get into someone's head through art and limited dialogue. This novel did a great job at showcasing these characters and their situations. It was amazing how much they got across in under 200 pages. All of the characters felt fleshed out and identical enough from the others that I didn't have a problem differentiating them.

The art was beautiful. I absolutely loved the character designs! One of my favorite scenes from the novel was when the group was playing a video game and it melded their character designs with the characters they were playing in the game. It was gorgeous and genius. The art also did a great job at showcasing the different environments. Whether it was their homes, the game store, or during the events the art managed to get across the location as well as the emotions associated with the scenes. You got the loveable chaos or the punk rock feel or the busyness.

The only somewhat issue I had with this book is that it left me wanting more. I want more of these characters and their interactions with each other. I just want more of them.

This was a pretty quick read to me, but that could be because I was absolutely thrilled to be reading it. It was under 200 pages, but I was personally surprised by how much emotion was packed into those pages. These characters were amazing, and I absolutely loved their dynamic with each other. I especially loved the fact that the problems that these individuals face felt realistic. Personally, I also thought that the reason they grew apart was very realistic too. Each of these people had something or another going on with their lives and it made sense that they weren't able to keep in touch after their link closed down. I will personally put this book down as a recommendation. I loved it and I hope to re-read it in the future.
