Review:
I wanted to prepare for the release of Plain English by reading the other two books in this series. Plus, I've read several of Rachel Spangler's books now and I don't think I've been disappointed by one yet.

I absolutely loved both of these characters. Emma and Brogan are both absolute sweethearts, but in slightly different ways. Emma is so completely vulnerable, and I wanted to protect her with everything that I had. She was so shattered at the beginning of the book, and it was so easy to cheer on every little success that she had. I loved every second of watching her grow. Brogan on the other hand is very caring but she's also a bit more hidden by her playgirl ways. It's clear that she loves her family and would do anything for them, but there's a part of her that seemed to try and hide from her emotions. They were both amazing characters and I think they probably rank as some of my favorite characters in lesfic.

The connection between these characters, and their connection to other characters in the book, is amazing. Brogan and Emma were so cute together. They didn't immediately form a relationship because they both had issues to work through, but it was clear that there was an attraction between them. The way Brogan treated Emma, with caring but not childlike hands, was so sweet and endearing. I absolutely loved how the two of them strengthened their bond by spending time together with Brogan casually pushing Emma to do more things outside of her comfort zone.

Brogan's relationship to her family, and the others in the town, was both endearing and slightly irritating as well. It was clear that the family was close and meant well, but sometimes their jokes to Brogan was a bit annoying. I did also really love their interactions with Emma. They were so sweet to her even when they realized that trying to use Emma for publicity for their town might not have been the best idea. It was cute!

The emotions in this book were so good! Spangler did a great job at describing what these two were feeling. The emotions felt so raw and powerful. I already liked these characters, but their emotions hurt at times. I tend to find that I'm not always emotionally attached to characters, but that wasn't a problem here at all. This book brought out so many emotions in me that I feel like the author owes me recompenses at this point.

I would recommend this book in a second! I absolutely loved Brogan and Emma and they had such a sweet connection and relationship. If you're not a fan of instant attraction and some slight miscommunication, then it might not be to your tastes. However, I'd still suggest giving it a chance. There were a lot of really cute moments that I thought helped make their relationship feel cute and authentic.
