Favorite Scene/Quote: "Is that what you're supposed to wear when meeting a famous fashion designer?"
I knew practically nothing about this book when I grabbed it from my library. I saw that it was gay and decided that I would check it out.
Teddy’s job has him helping to design a Smart Vase. He has to work with Romeo, the tech guy at the company, to develop a sleeker/better design when the tech seemed too bulky for the original design. Their boss has to pitch the item to Joyce in hopes that she will invest in their product. Due to circumstances, Teddy and Romeo are sent in her place to pitch the item to Joyce. She shakes everything up when she forces them to complete some trials before she is willing to back them.
I honestly think my biggest issue with this book is the characters. I thought Teddy was judgmental and he got on my nerves very easily. Romeo wasn’t bad, but he felt one-dimensional. They didn’t like each other at first because they had both made bad initial judgements. I just didn’t like either of them and I thought that the romance was decent, but it needed more bonding moments. (view spoiler)[ They went from hating (or just disliking) each other to being in love (and being willing to leave their job together) in the span of a week. (hide spoiler)]
My absolute favorite part of this book was Joyce. She was an eccentric rich lady and I just loved her. She forced them to do these tasks which were insane but did promote teamwork between the two. She’s not perfect but she is my new goal in life.
As a side note, I really couldn’t stand the escape room scene. This is completely personal driven by my own pure love for escape rooms, but I couldn’t stand how that scene was handled. Not that the escape room was bad, but Teddy and Romeo in the room pissed me off. (view spoiler)[ Seriously, you just started making out partway through something that you know is a trial to get funding. Then they try to claim that Joyce’s point that they are good separately but distract each other is a bad point. (hide spoiler)]
I just didn't like this book and I think most of it was tied to the fact that I just couldn't stand the main characters.
