Review: The Witch Boy

The Witch Boy The Witch Boy by Molly Ostertag
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Finished on August 6, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: The grandmother at the end

I was very excited to read this book. I managed to find this book completely unexpectedly and I was beyond thrilled. Quick note: There seems to be some debate about whether this book is LGBTQ+ in some way. Personally, I go with yes. Not explicitly, but a subtle GNC individual. Definitely my personal opinion, feel free to shelve it as you like. That’s all I wanted to say.

Review: The Tea Dragon Society

The Tea Dragon Society The Tea Dragon Society by Kay O'Neill
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Favorite Scene/Quote: Anything with the tea dragons

This graphic novel was absolutely adorable. I can’t express how much I loved the art style and how much I want a tea dragon.

A Touch of Ruckus A Touch of Ruckus by Ash Van Otterloo
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Finished on July 6, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: Meeting the marble ghosts

I cannot explain how excited I was to hear that Ash Van Otterloo was putting out another book. I was a big fan of Cattywampus and was very excited once I read the summary of this book. I requested and was granted an ARC copy of this book by Scholastic in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Review: The Princess Affair

The Princess Affair The Princess Affair by Nell Stark
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Finished on August 2, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: "You're not a teenage boy; you're a nerd...In the body of a Greek god."

I apparently really like gay romances with royalty. Not too surprising. I really loved Nell Stark’s The Princess Deception, so I figured I should give this book a chance too.

Review: Wildfire

Wildfire Wildfire by Toni Draper
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Finished on July 28, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: Love at First Write

This book has mixed reviews and I get why it does. I had a lot of feelings about this book while reading it. Some were good, others not so much. This is Toni Draper’s debut novel and I commend Draper for writing and publishing a book. I also received an ARC of this book from the publisher in a giveaway. So, here is my honest opinion about this book.

Review: Pitfall

Pitfall Pitfall by Kelli Jae Baeli
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Finished on July 4, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: “Cramps? You mean…oh no, really?”

3.5/5 rounded down

Lesbians time travel back to the Jurassic age. I was hooked from the description, but I was also a bit hesitant because I didn’t really enjoy the other book I’ve read by this author. But I was willing to give it a chance in hopes that the other book was just an outlier. I don’t think it was.

Review: I Kissed a Girl

I Kissed a Girl I Kissed a Girl by Jennet Alexander
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Finished on June 15, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: "Maybe, yeah, sure. Patriarchy bad. But how many serial killers are woke enough to care?"

3.5/5 rounded down

I have varied feelings about this book. The premise was really interesting to me, I have a soft spot for Hollywood romances, but I’m not sure how I feel about it. There were parts of the book that really worked for me, but other parts that just didn’t sit right.

Halfway Author Checkin

Six months are gone and I decided that it would be fun to see what authors I read the most of. I counted both new books as well as rereads and ended up with the following results.

  2. Amanda Radley - 7 Books
  3. Jenny Frame - 7 Books
  4. Gerri Hill - 5 Books
  5. Lesley Davis - 5 Books
  6. Rachel Spangler - 4 Books
  7. Aurora Rey - 3 Books
  8. Cara Malone - 3 Books
  9. Lee Winter - 3 Books

Pride Month Recommendations

I spent June recommending LGBTQ+ books to people on my Instagram and Twitter. Here is the full list of books that I recommended as well as the identities associated with these books. There will mainly be lesbian books here, but I did try to include other books as well.

Quick note: some might be incorrectly labeled if I didn't remember exact details (specifically books being marked as lesbian when a character was bisexual). I apologize but I can't remember everything.
