Review:
I struggled at first to figure out what my feelings towards this book were. Something didn't quite sit right with me and I was struggling to figure out what wasn't working for me. Eventually I was able to figure it out and I'm very glad that I was able to pinpoint it at some point. Outside of that one thing, I quite enjoyed this book. It had vivid descriptions and interesting characters. It's a relatively short read and you could probably finish it in a day or two.
I quite enjoyed the characters in this book. I thought the author did a great job at showcasing their friendship before the time skip that left them as no better than strangers to each other. It helped to show a relationship between them and then the author explains why that went away and how long it had been since they've had that. I personally really enjoyed how that part was handled.
In terms of the actual characters: I quite liked them. This novella is short, that's the entire thing about novellas, which means that there is only so much of a character arc and growth that can happen in the book. With that in mind, I liked them. The characters were nice and had a really nice connection with one another.
The descriptions are honestly one of my favorite parts of this book. The author did a great job at writing vivid descriptions that helped drag you into that town and that forest that plays such an important role in these characters lives. It's stunning! Especially when the two become.connected and the descriptions that go along with that. It's done so well and beautifully.
My only issue with this book is the writing style. It took me quite a while to get used to the writing style because it just wasn't something that I was used to. It took me a couple of tries to get it started but eventually I did and it stuck. After maybe a third of the book, I found that the writing style didn't bother me as much anymore. It's a unique style but it's not a bad one, it just takes a bit to get used to it.
This book took me a bit to get attached but I was eventually able to do it and then I was able to be more completely enveloped in the story. The writing style is a unique one but I honestly think that, once you get used to it, it helps the story. It doesn’t hinder it. The descriptions of the forest and the situations and the feelings in this book are probably my favorite part of the entire book. I thought it was done very well and it helped drag me into the world that these two characters were living in. This book was quite enjoyable and I had a good time reading it. I am quite interested to read anything else that this author has written.
