Caution: Under Construction

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Favorite Scene/Quote: Sheridan attempting to make dinner for Keefer

4.5/5

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I didn’t really want to stop reading it after I picked it up but, due to length, I made sure to read it in segments. There are various times when the r-word is used for a side character with mental disability. If that bothers you, take notice and take care.

I love this book. It’s not flawless or anything like that but I love it. I find it to be a very enjoyable read and I’ve read it multiple times.

This is a good story. It’s a sweet story without much angst and it makes for a perfect read if you’re feeling a bit stressed or just want to curl up with something that you know will end happily.

Huntress Huntress by A.E. Radley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Finished on February 21, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: "A bit less screaming and a bit more knowing where the car was and that would have been epic."

4.75/5 rounded up

This book was a delightful read. I wasn’t fully convinced to read this book just by the summary but scanning the reviews made it where I knew I had to read this book. The story was delightful and funny and entertaining, and I really want a sequel so I can read some more about these characters. I had some issues initially getting into the book but once I was in, I was hooked.

Finished on February 20, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: The gym scene and the end fight scene

4.5/5 rounded up

I’ve read Lesley Davis’ Playing trilogy but had been avoiding reading her Wings Trilogy because I’m not the biggest fan of paranormal romances. This is the second of the Wings books and now I have to read the other two.

Review: Playing the Spy

Playing the Spy Playing the Spy by Maggie Brown
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
Finished on February 13, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: "I'm like a thirsty traveller in the desert who has found water."

I really wanted to like this book. I did. But I only ended up liking maybe 50% of the book, and that might be a stretch.

The idea was interesting, but it didn’t really feel like it was followed through during parts of the story. There just seemed to be entire sections where Sophie seemed to forget that she was a reporter there to get information on Eleanor.

Review: Under a Falling Star

Under a Falling Star Under a Falling Star by Jae
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Finished on February 12, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: "We met under a falling star, and the rest, as they say, is history."

This probably ranks as one of my favorite books by Jae.

I don’t know if there is a character that I immediately loved as much as I did Dee. A sweetheart with a bad rep and a worse reason for her reputation. I loved her even when she wasn’t exactly being pleasant.

Review: After the Summer Rain

After the Summer Rain After the Summer Rain by Gerri Hill
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Finished on February 12, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: The thunderstorms and rescuing Rachel

I adore pretty much every moment of this book. Both times I’ve read it, I’ve done it in just a couple days because I couldn’t bare to put it down. The characters are relatable and fit well together and I especially love reading about the two of them getting closer. The side characters are an interesting bunch and help make the place where Mel lives feel more interesting.

Normally I adore Jenny Frame’s books and the character’s she writes. The summary of this book was initially what drew me in, and I wanted so much to love it like I’ve loved her other books. However, I just couldn’t.

Roadqueen: Eternal Roadtrip to Love Roadqueen: Eternal Roadtrip to Love by Mira Ong Chua
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Finished on February 8, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: The clothing montage (short but I love it)

This book was fun and I had a lot of fun reading it. It's not enough I find something that has me smiling and amused through the majority of the book but this one did and I'm glad. I had a bit of a hard time understanding Leo, but she grew on me. I loved watching the dates the two went on and the mistakes that were made.

Finished on February 6, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: "Being the redheaded stepchild on the queer spectrum isn't a real picnic."

I quite enjoyed this book. It’s not my absolute favorite but it’s well-written book with likeable characters. For a debut novel this is great, and I hope to read more by Farmer as she releases more of her work.

Review: A Love Story Starring My Dead Best Friend

A Love Story Starring My Dead Best Friend A Love Story Starring My Dead Best Friend by Emily Horner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Finished on February 6, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: "Poems are not for explaining...They are for pretty girls to read aloud."

I don’t always like to read books aimed at teenagers and preteens; I just prefer books for adults. However, as part of a reading challenge I am participating in I was asked to re-read a favorite. I decided on this book. It’s not an all-time favorite but it was one of my first books about a lesbian relationship and it’s held a special place in my heart because of it.

This book is good.

This book was really good. I’ve enjoyed both E.J. Noyes books I’ve read even though I don’t particularly like reading books told from one person’s point of view. This book was great though.

I love the idea of this book and, in my personal opinion, the author delivered well for the synopsis.
