Review: Timeless

Timeless Timeless by Rachel Spangler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Finished on January 26, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: "You see, a bully doesn't have to actively terrorize everyone. They just have to make one person so miserable no one else would dare cross them for fear of becoming a target themselves."

I was initially hesitant to read this book. I was worried about the time slip element to it, worried about how bad the bullying could get, worried about a relationship developing between a student teacher and a student, and I’ll even admit to not liking first-person books. This book laid my hesitations to rest and proved to be better than I was expecting.

Review: Up on the Roof

Up on the Roof Up on the Roof by A.L. Brooks
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Finished on January 25, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: "One night of incredible sex didn't fix all of that, but it certainly had been a rather lovely start."

4.5/5 rounded up

The reviews for this book seem to be all over the place. Personally, I loved it.

I probably would have given it a 5/5 instead of a 4.5/5 if the beginning part didn’t feel like it dragged on to me.

Review: The Holiday Treatment

The Holiday Treatment The Holiday Treatment by Elle Spencer
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
Finished on January 24, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: The Hawaii section of the book

2.5/5 rounded down

I felt very let down by this book. The idea of the book intrigued me. Two people who spend a night together and want to stay together but a predicament forces them apart. They agree to work together on a lesbian movie pitch and fuel their pitch with the fire they have for each other. This book wasn’t what I was expecting from that summary.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Finished on January 23, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: "If Max is someone who goes after what she wants, I have to conclude she doesn't really want me."

I really enjoyed this book. I was originally skeptical about reading it and didn’t intend to, but I eventually picked it up to fulfill the journalist/reporter category in a challenge. I fell in love with the story.

Review: Taking a Shot at Love

Taking a Shot at Love Taking a Shot at Love by K.C. Richardson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Finished on January 19, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: "Sometimes, what you thought you wanted turns out to be something entirely different. It's okay if your dreams change along the way."

I wanted to like this book more than I did. The idea interested me. A basketball coach and an English professor who initially bond over a basketball player’s struggling grades. It felt like a good setup.

Review: Changing the Script

Changing the Script Changing the Script by Lee Winter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Finished on January 17, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: "Dear studio execs, please let me make your mainstream flick hella lesbian, but don't worry it's on the downlow. Plus, I've put everyone's tits back in their costumes."

4.75/5 rounded up

I was a bit wary of this book when I originally read the summary. While the story of a director trying to make a movie better interested me, I had my concerns about Sam and the gang drug problems she had to deal with. I was worried that the gang side would play too heavily into the story for me to feel comfortable with, however that was not a problem.

Take Your Time Take Your Time by V.K. Powell
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Finished on January 15, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: "It's a surprise all right, maybe not well thought out, but it got you back in my bed, so I'm not complaining."

3.5/5

This is my least favorite of the Pine Cone Romance and it has everything to do with the characters.

Review: Take My Hand

Take My Hand Take My Hand by Missouri Vaun

4.5/5 rounded down

I enjoyed this book. I read it last and had been waiting to read about these two because I love Clay and how they describe her. It was a good read.

Review: Take a Chance

Take a Chance Take a Chance by D. Jackson Leigh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Finished on January 14, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: "Let's erase the past and start clean. I want to count you as one...my only one."

This book surprised me. I did not have many expectations from it, mainly because I do not typically like overly cocky characters, and I have never read something by this author before. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this.

Review: Desolation Point

Desolation Point Desolation Point by Cari Hunter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Finished on January 12, 2021
Favorite Scene/Quote: "They're herbs, Alex. All perfectly legal herbs."

I forgot how much I love these sorts of books. Two women stuck together in the wilderness either because of a natural disaster or because of someone hunting them. I used to love reading them and I have avoided them, for the most part, for the last few years because I wanted to avoid serious drama. This book might bring me back to reading them.

Review: Alone

Alone Alone by E.J. Noyes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Finished on January 10, 2021

4.5/5 rounded up

I went into this book with high hopes. It was a good book, some parts were better than I expected while others were about what I expected. Some descriptors dragged on too long, but I loved the portrayal of Celeste. I especially enjoyed her “memories” of her friends and family appearing in her mind as her coping mechanism.

Recipe for Love My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Favorite Scene/Quote: "Anything I should know? Likes, dislikes, things that will make you come unglued?"

I was very happy about how this book played out. While the idea immediately got my intention and made me want to read it, I knew there was a possibility of it not meeting my expectations.

Breaking Character My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Finished on January 5, 2021
Favorite Quote/Scene: “PS, your kiss made my ovaries explode. They’re still on life support. Thanks for that.”

I really enjoyed this book. It gave me likeable characters, a nice fake dating plot, and a character who I was meant to dislike.

Summer’s Cove My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. I love Aurora Rey’s writing, but I tend to avoid books that have children involved in them because of a personal preference of mine.
